D-mannose is regulated by binding to E. coli bacteria, a common culprit in UTIs, and flushing them out of the body through urine. D-mannose is typically taken in powder or capsule form. 

Uses:

  • Possibly helps with a genetic disorder (carbohydrate-deficient glycoprotein syndrome type 1b) 
  • Potential for preventing UTIs 
  • UTI Prevention:
  • D-mannose may stop bacteria from sticking to urinary tract walls 
  • Dosage for prevention: 2 grams daily or 1 gram twice daily
